Our story

Made slowly, worn for years

A small house with a long view

Sauvelle began in 2014 with a single rail of linen shirts, cut in a borrowed studio and sold to friends. A decade later we still design every piece in-house, and we still believe the most sustainable garment is the one you keep wearing.

We work with eleven family-run ateliers across Scotland, Portugal, Italy and Spain — partners we visit every season, whose names we know and whose craft we pay for fairly.

What we stand for

  • Natural fibres first. Linen, organic cotton, silk, wool and cashmere — over 92% of our collection.
  • Small batches. We produce in limited runs and restock what you love, so nothing ends up in landfill.
  • Repairs for life. Send us anything we have made, at any age, and we will mend it free of charge.
  • Plastic-free delivery. Recycled tissue, compostable mailers and reusable cotton bags.

Our journey

From one rail to a maison

  1. 2014

    One rail of linen

Our founder cuts twelve linen shirts in a borrowed studio. They sell out in a weekend.

  2. 2017

    The first atelier partners

We begin working with a cashmere mill in the Scottish Borders and a leather workshop in Ubrique.

  3. 2020

    Repairs for life

We launch free lifetime repairs — and have mended thousands of pieces since.

  4. Today

    A maison, still small

Shipping worldwide from our studio, still designing every piece in-house.

Certified fibres

OEKO-TEX and GOTS certified fabrics, traced from field to finish.

Fair partnerships

Long-term contracts and living wages in every atelier we work with.
