How to choose glasses for your face shape (without overthinking it)
Contrast is the rule of thumb: angular frames soften round faces, rounder frames balance strong jaws. Here is how to find yours in two minutes.
Face shape advice can feel like a horoscope, but one idea genuinely helps: contrast. Frames that echo your face’s outline exaggerate it; frames that contrast with it create balance.
Find your face shape in two minutes
- Pull your hair back and look straight into a mirror.
- Trace your outline on the glass with a washable marker or lipstick.
- Compare width at the forehead, cheekbones and jaw, and the overall length.
Our quick matches
- Round: rectangles and squares add structure — try Vector or Atlas.
- Square: round and oval frames soften a strong jaw — try Orbit or Aeris Ti-01.
- Heart: cat-eyes and bottom-heavy shapes balance a wider forehead — try Mira.
- Oval: almost anything works; go bold with Riviera.
- Oblong: deep frames and aviators shorten the face — try Soleil.
- Diamond: browlines and ovals highlight the cheekbones — try Halden.
Size matters more than shape
A frame that is too wide will slide; too narrow and it pinches. Your eyes should sit roughly in the centre of each lens, and the frame should be about as wide as your face at the temples. Our fit guide explains the three numbers on every frame.
Pick the shape you are drawn to first. Rules are a starting point, not a verdict.
