500 Wh or 750 Wh? How to choose the right e-bike battery
Battery capacity is measured in watt-hours (Wh): the energy the pack can deliver in one charge. More Wh means more range — but also more weight and a higher price. Here is how to pick.
Real-world range on our test loop
| Assist level | 500 Wh | 750 Wh |
|---|---|---|
| Eco | 110 km | 160 km |
| Tour | 80 km | 120 km |
| Sport | 60 km | 90 km |
| Turbo | 45 km | 68 km |
Measured on a Metro 7 with an 80 kg rider, 210 m of climbing and 14 °C air temperature. Headwind, cold weather and tyre pressure all change the numbers.
Choose 500 Wh if…
- Your round trip is under 40 km
- You can charge at work or every night
- You lift the bike up stairs — the pack is 1.2 kg lighter
Choose 750 Wh if…
- You commute over 50 km a day or ride in Turbo
- You carry kids or cargo
- You want to charge once a week
