Range & specs, explained

What the numbers really mean.

Watt-hours, newton-metres, motor types and charge times — the five specs that decide how an e-bike rides, and how to compare them.

The five specs that matter

Battery (Wh) = range

Watt-hours are the size of the tank. As a rule of thumb, expect 1 km for every 5–7 Wh in mixed riding. 500 Wh ≈ 80 km; 750 Wh ≈ 120 km.

Torque (Nm) = hill power

40–50 Nm is plenty for flat cities. 65–85 Nm flattens steep hills and cargo. 90 Nm+ is for e-MTB climbs and 200 kg loads.

Mid-drive vs. hub motor

Mid-drives use the bike’s gears — natural feel, efficient on hills. Hub motors are simpler, quieter and cheaper to maintain.

Weight

Most e-bikes weigh 20–25 kg. Under 18 kg means you can lift it onto a train or up stairs; cargo bikes go to 35 kg.

Charge time

Standard 2 A chargers fill a 500 Wh pack in about 4.5 h. A 4 A fast charger cuts that by 40%.

Certified cells

Every pack we sell is UL 2271 / EN 50604 certified, with a smart BMS that balances cells and prevents overheating.

Real-world range

What changes your range

  • Assist level: Turbo uses roughly 2.5× the energy of Eco
  • Rider + cargo weight: every extra 10 kg costs about 5%
  • Temperature: below 5 °C, expect up to 20% less
  • Tyre pressure: under-inflated tyres cost up to 10%
  • Hills and headwind: the biggest factors of all

Our range figures are measured on the same 42 km loop with an 80 kg rider, so you can compare models fairly.
